Brett "cut his teeth" in Washington at the Clinton-Gore DC headquarters, serving with the Rapid Response Team where he was tasked with responding to "incoming fire" within 24 hours.

Brett also worked in the Foreign Affairs Office, responding in real-time to media inquiries, his desk directly under James Carville's famous sign reading "It's the economy, stupid!"

Brett's mother collected Teddy Bears, competing with her fellow collectors for those "rare bears" no one else had.

The envy of her friends, she gave it the very appropriate Teddy Bear sounding name "Langley"
